United States President Donald Trump declared that the US has "won" in Iran, while emphasizing that diplomatic negotiations between the two countries to end the war are still underway.
In a statement to reporters, Trump said Iran had agreed to Washington's main demand, which he said was that Tehran should never possess nuclear weapons.
He stressed that talks between the parties are continuing and that he believes the main objective has been achieved, although he admitted that he cannot give a full guarantee of ending the war. "I think we will end it, but I cannot tell you for sure," he said.
Trump also added that another US objective, regime change in Iran, has already happened, he said. He argued that the country's top leaders are no longer in control and that the third level of leadership has also been eliminated, which, according to the US president, shows that Washington's objectives have been achieved.
Earlier, Trump stated that negotiations with Iran to end the conflict are taking place "right now," claiming that Tehran wants to reach an agreement at all costs.
He said that Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner are involved in these talks.
