The US administration is increasingly frustrated by the growing violence by settlers against Palestinians in the West Bank. US Vice President JD Vance has intervened on the issue, criticizing the Jewish state.
The Israeli media themselves have reported this news. According to reports, several messages were sent from Washington to the Israeli government over the past week. Vance personally called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and according to Israeli media, the tone became heated during the conversation.
The US does not believe the Israeli version that the army and police are effectively enforcing the law, nor that incidents are always provoked by left-wing agitators.
"It is unacceptable," Vance emphasizes, "that an army that manages to hit a target with a rocket from a window is unable to stop armed settlers."
Vance reportedly asked Defense Minister Israel Katz to intervene forcefully and instruct the military to arrest those engaging in violence.
