Iran has received several "points" from the United States through intermediaries, which are being reviewed by Iranian authorities, CBS News reported, citing a senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official.
According to the same source, this step could serve as a possible precursor to talks between the two countries, but negotiations have not been confirmed and have not yet begun.
The statement comes amid conflicting reports about the possibility of dialogue between Washington and Tehran. US President Donald Trump had earlier stated that the US and Iran had held talks to end the war, but this was denied by the speaker of the Iranian parliament.
Trump has also emphasized that there is a possibility of reaching an agreement to stop the conflict, after deciding to temporarily withdraw from the threat to bomb Iran's energy facilities and postponed the strikes against them.
Meanwhile, the White House has downplayed expectations for imminent negotiations, stressing that the situation remains evolving and that no formal meeting between US and Iranian leaders has been announced.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt stated that diplomatic discussions are very sensitive and that the US does not negotiate through the media, adding that any potential meeting would only be confirmed through official announcements.
