Lebanon has withdrawn the accreditation of the recently appointed Iranian ambassador to Beirut and given him until Sunday to leave the country.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that it gives him until Sunday to leave.
This measure was taken after Beirut accused Iran's Revolutionary Guard of directing Hezbollah's operations against Israel from Lebanon and announced that it was banning their activities on Lebanese soil.
The ministry also stated that it had summoned the Iranian chargé d'affaires and informed him of the authorities' decision to declare Ambassador Mohammad Reza Raef Sheibani, who was appointed in February, as "persona non grata."
