Donald Trump has reacted sharply to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's statements regarding the conflict and negotiations with Iran, accusing him of a lack of knowledge and criticizing the state of Germany. In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump declared that Merz "has no idea what he is talking about", reacting to the latter's comments that the Iranians are stronger than expected and that the US lacks a convincing strategy in negotiations.
"If Iran had nuclear weapons, the whole world would be hostage. I am doing something that others should have done a long time ago. No wonder Germany is doing so badly", Trump wrote, directly attacking German politics and the economy.

On the other hand, Friedrich Merz had previously stated that the Iranian leadership is “humiliating” the United States and questioned Washington’s strategic clarity. He emphasized that entering conflicts is easier than finding a way out, citing the experiences in Afghanistan and Iraq as examples.
According to Merz, it is currently unclear what path the US will follow to get out of the crisis, while he assessed that the Iranian side is showing itself to be a very skilled negotiator in this confrontation.
