Former Norwegian Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland is in hospital after attempting to end his life, while an investigation is underway against him for "serious corruption".
According to Norwegian media, the investigation is related to his previous contacts with American financier Jeffrey Epstein. Authorities have not provided details on his health condition or the circumstances of the incident, remaining tight-lipped.
The Norwegian Nobel Institute has asked Jagland for clarification on any possible financial benefits during his time as head of the Nobel Committee, while the Norwegian Foreign Ministry has announced that it will request the lifting of his immunity as former Secretary General of the Council of Europe, to pave the way for investigations.
