Taiwan has officially reacted to China's statements following the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump, describing Beijing's claims as groundless on the international stage.
Taiwan's Foreign Ministry stated that China "has no right to represent Taiwan in raising any claims in the international arena," emphasizing that Beijing has long pursued activities considered as military harassment and threats in the East China Sea, the South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait and areas surrounding the island.
According to the statement, even during the meeting of the US and Chinese leaders, Chinese People's Liberation Army forces have continued to send aircraft and military ships to areas around the Taiwan Strait, increasing tensions in the region.
Taiwan stressed that China is the "sole source of danger to regional peace and stability," while adding that it will continue to cooperate with the United States and other countries with similar positions to protect peace, stability and freedom in the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific region.
