The United States State Department has announced that it will offer a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or disruption of the activities of several senior Iranian officials affiliated with organizations that Washington considers terrorist. The initiative is part of the “Rewards for Justice” program, which aims to collect information on individuals suspected of directing or supporting terrorist operations at the international level.
According to the State Department, the individuals named are suspected of commanding and directing units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which, according to the US, plan and organize terrorist activities in various countries around the world.
The list of officials for whom information is requested includes:
Mojtaba Khamenei, referred to as supreme leader
Esmail Khatib, Minister of Intelligence
Ali Asghar Hejazi, Deputy Chief of General Staff
Yahya Rahim Safavi, Major General
Eskandar Momeni, Brigadier General
Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme Council
The announcement comes at a time of heightened tension in the Middle East. On the same day, Ali Larijani participated in the “Al-Quds Day” demonstrations in Tehran, an annual event expressing support for the Palestinian cause. He also published photos from his participation in the rally.
US authorities have appealed for information that could help identify the activities of these individuals and have emphasized that the reward could reach up to $10 million, depending on the importance of the information provided.
