Voting centers for the constitutional referendum on justice reform in Italy closed at 3:00 PM, and the counting of votes began immediately to determine the final result.
According to preliminary data, voter turnout was very high, reaching around 59%, a level considered a record for this process.
The first exit polls show a slight advantage for the “No” camp. According to the Opinio poll for Rai, the vote against the reform moves between 49% and 53%, while the “Yes” vote moves between 47% and 51%. Another poll by Tecnè for Tgcom24 puts the “No” vote at 50–54%, while the “Yes” vote at 46–50%.
The final result is expected to be announced after the vote count is completed in the afternoon. The referendum is considered an important political test for the government and for proposed changes to the Italian justice system.
