
Russian President Vladimir Putin supervised the Russian-Belarusian military exercises "Zapad-2025" in the Nizhny Novgorod region. He arrived at the Mulino training ground wearing a military uniform and stated that the purpose of the maneuvers is to protect the Union State (the Russia-Belarus alliance) from any aggression.
The exercises involve about 100,000 servicemen, 10,000 pieces of military equipment, 333 aircraft and 247 different ships. They are held at 41 training grounds and are based on the experience of the war in Ukraine. The exercises were attended by 25 foreign delegations, of which 6 sent military troops.
