It all started with a simple act of solidarity. After an Islamophobic attack at the Alma Road Mosque in Peterborough, Dan Harris decided to take his 12-year-old son to the neighborhood mosque to send a clear message: “You are not alone.”
Dan is not a Muslim. But he believes that hatred is fought with presence, respect, and concrete gestures. So, together with Joshua, he entered the mosque with some homemade sweets.
That first visit was not the only one. Today, father and son have visited over 60 mosques across the UK, distributing sweets and building bridges of understanding between communities.
Joshua, who has difficulty speaking and communicates by pointing to the letters in an alphabet tattoo on his father's arm, became known as "Joshi Man" after a video of him handing out sweets to worshippers went viral. The images of him, calm and smiling among the people welcoming him, touched the hearts of thousands of Britons.
Their campaign took on a simple but powerful slogan: "Don't hate, bake."
At a time when the news is often filled with division and tension, Joshua's story proves that even a small gesture can become a national movement. Sometimes, a tray of sweets is the sweetest way to say that solidarity is stronger than hate.
