Croatia's Ministry of Science, Education and Youth has proposed significant changes to school regulations, including a nationwide ban on the use of mobile phones in primary schools, according to Croatia Week.
According to the Ministry, the changes aim to clearly define student behavior, improve safety and order in schools, and ensure the effective delivery of education, in accordance with existing regulations and observed practice.
Exceptions will only apply for educational, health, or other approved purposes, with the permission of the school.
Students will still be allowed to bring cell phones to school, but will not be allowed to use them during the school day.
Devices should be kept in bags or lockers, depending on the internal rules of each school.
In high schools, the current ban on unauthorized use of devices during class remains in effect.
Schools will continue to have the option to further restrict the use of mobile phones outside of school hours through their internal rules.
