Israel carried out a series of airstrikes in southern Gaza on Monday, following mutual allegations of ceasefire violations between the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Hamas. The IDF said Hamas militants “fired anti-tank rockets and live ammunition at Israeli troops” near Rafah, but Hamas denied any clashes in the area.
Hamas accuses Israel of "continuing to violate the agreement," while the IDF describes the alleged Hamas attack as a "brazen violation of the ceasefire."
A doctor at al-Aqsa Hospital reported that nine Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on Zawaida and Nuseirat.
The Israeli strikes are part of a campaign that began after the October 7, 2023, attack, in which Hamas militants killed about 1,200 people in southern Israel and took 251 others hostage. According to the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry, more than 68,000 people have lost their lives in Israeli attacks on Gaza since then.
