Hamas has declared that the ceasefire in Gaza cannot move to the second phase as long as Israel continues to violate the agreement. According to authorities in Gaza, at least 738 violations by the Israeli side have been recorded since the ceasefire began 60 days ago.
Meanwhile, authorities in the Gaza Strip are in the process of searching for the remains of the last Israeli hostage expected to be returned as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
As for the second phase of the agreement, it still remains unclear. This phase includes sensitive issues such as the governance of Gaza, the possibility of deploying an international stabilization force, and the creation of a so-called "peace board" structure, on which the parties have not yet reached an agreement.
In this context, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under increased political pressure, as his political fate is closely linked to the war in Gaza, while analysts estimate that he is in a weaker position than ever, which could make him more sensitive to pressure from the United States to accept the conditions of the second phase.
On the other hand, Hamas and other Palestinian groups have categorically rejected the idea of a foreign guardianship over Gaza.
The humanitarian situation is expected to deteriorate further, as a powerful winter storm is expected to hit the Gaza Strip in the next 72 hours, further worsening the situation of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced by Israeli attacks.
