The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has stated that his country could take control of Iran's oil resources, also mentioning the possibility of occupying Kharg Island.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Trump said that one of the options he is considering is taking Iranian oil, despite criticism within the US.
“Honestly, my favorite thing is to take Iran's oil, but some people in the US say, 'Why are you doing this?' They are ignorant people,” he declared.
Trump suggested that a possible scenario would also include control of Kharg Island, a strategic hub for Iranian oil exports.
"Maybe we take Kharg Island, maybe not. We have a lot of options. That would also mean staying there for a while," he said.
Asked about Iran's defensive capabilities on the island, Trump expressed skepticism, stating: "I don't think they have defenses. We could take it very easily."
