A mural of 18-year-old footballer Lamine Yamal, depicted with the Palestinian flag, has been painted on the ruins of a house destroyed by Israeli attacks in the al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City.
Artists from Gaza painted the Spanish footballer on the collapsed wall to express solidarity after Yamal showed support for the Palestinian people by holding the Palestinian flag during the celebrations of the Barcelona club's championship title.
On Monday, Yamal waved the Palestinian flag during the Spanish club's open-top bus parade celebrating their La Liga title win. Images of the gesture quickly went viral online and sparked backlash from supporters and public figures.
