Washington fears that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could end the ceasefire in Gaza and return to war against Hamas, the New York Times reported.
There is growing concern in the US administration that Netanyahu may actively work against the peace deal brokered by US President Donald Trump, the US newspaper reported, citing US officials. During their visit to Israel, Vice President JD Vance and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are planning to pressure Israel – sources told the New York Times – not to weaken the agreement.
The report also says talks are underway with Turkey to send a specialized team to help locate the bodies of missing Israeli hostages in Gaza, which Hamas has said it is having difficulty locating.
WFP, there is not enough aid in Gaza, open all crossings
The flow of aid to Gaza is increasing, but it is still far from the ideal target of 2,000 tons per day: the World Food Programme (WFP) said today, adding that "to achieve this target, we must immediately use all border crossings." The organization's spokeswoman, Abeer Etefa, said that the supplies imported so far would be enough to feed half a million people for two weeks if only the Kerem Shalom and Kissufim crossings were used.
US Vice President JD Vance has arrived in Israel
US Vice President JD Vance has arrived at Israel's Ben-Gurion Airport, Haaretz reports. Vance's two-day visit is intended to ensure that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not violate the ceasefire and launch another offensive in Gaza, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.
Red Cross, 'Israel has returned the bodies of 15 Palestinians'
The International Committee of the Red Cross announced that it has transferred the remains of 15 Palestinians held in Israel to the Gaza Strip, as part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. "The International Committee of the Red Cross today completed the transfer of the bodies of the deceased Palestinians to the Gaza authorities, acting as a neutral intermediary. Local health authorities in Gaza have confirmed that the number of bodies received today is 15," a statement said. Under the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Israel is required to hand over the bodies of 15 Palestinians for every dead Israeli hostage it returns.
