US President Donald Trump said today that many of Washington's allies in the Middle East are ready to send troops to the Gaza Strip to "crush" and destroy the Hamas movement, using "strong force".
According to his post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said that several allied countries have told him that they would welcome the opportunity to go to Gaza and "kill" Hamas, but that there is no need for such intervention at this time.
"I have told them and Israel: not now. There is still hope that Hamas will do the right thing. If it does not, the end of Hamas will be swift, harsh and violent. I would like to thank all of these countries that offered their help," Trump wrote.
This statement comes as the military and humanitarian situation in Gaza remains tense and with international concerns over the spread of violence and the effects on civilians.
Meanwhile, in another development, the armed wing of Hamas announced that it will hand over the bodies of the two captives today at 9:00 PM (local time and Greek time), as part of the ceasefire agreement with Israel.
