The well-known folk singer, Gëzim Nika, has also joined the numerous public reactions in support of Albanian youth and students. Through a touching and very strong message, the artist has expressed his pain and anger for the current situation in the country, emphasizing the violence inflicted on young people.
At the beginning of his reaction, Nika recalled the difficult period when he had to leave his homeland, drawing parallels with today's events:
"I am with the youth of Albania! I fled Albania in 1997 with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart when bullets rained down on my heads and people were being killed in the streets. But today, more than ever, my soul aches and I cannot bear to see my country in this situation, where youth are being beaten and massacred."
The singer further explained his spiritual connection to his homeland and his deep disappointment at the fact that, even after more than three decades since the fall of the communist regime, the country is once again facing scenes of violence: "I have sung my life to Albania with all my heart and I believed that one day this country blessed by God would shine and flourish. But we who once overthrew communism that wanted to destroy my entire family, today after 30 years we are once again seeing violence and destruction. And this is a great pain that I am experiencing, not only as an artist but also as a person and above all as a parent."
Gëzim Nika has made a direct call to the government and politics to stop the violence and listen to the voices of citizens and young people protesting for their rights: "I am with the students and all Albanians who love this country. Politics should recognize the students and protesters, not ignore and abuse them!"
At the end of his message, the artist conveyed a prayer for peace, calling on everyone to unite and protect the future of the country: "I pray to God that no one is hurt and that not a single drop of blood is shed among the children of Albania, and that this country and its future, the youth, enjoy with all of us together."
