The prestigious French newspaper "Le Monde" has dedicated an article to the latest developments in Albania, following the placement under house arrest and suspension from duty of the head of SHISH, Vlora Hyseni.
French media reports that Hyseni was handed over to authorities on September 22 after SPAK requested security measures against her. She is suspected of leaking confidential information and aiding suspects in investigations related to the AKSHI file.
According to "Le Monde", the case constitutes another political blow to the government of Prime Minister Edi Rama, which has faced several corruption investigations against senior officials.
Referring to "Balkan Insight", the French newspaper writes that, if Hysen's involvement is confirmed, the case could constitute "the most serious national security crisis in the country's history."
The investigations are related to the AKSHI case, and Hyseni is suspected of having leaked confidential information in this context. SPAK has not publicly disclosed what information is suspected of having been leaked or which specific individuals are alleged to have been helped.
"Le Monde" also focuses on the financial dimensions of the AKSHI case, reporting that 19 procedures reviewed by SPAK reach an estimated value of around 5.9 billion lek, or nearly 60 million euros.
French media recalls that Albania is in the process of negotiations for membership in the European Union, while the fight against corruption and organized crime remains one of the key issues in this process.
