Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has contradicted the statement of US President Donald Trump, who a day earlier described Iran as the number one state sponsor of terrorism.
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly, Pezeshkian stated that Iran is not the perpetrator of terrorism, but, according to him, its victim.
"Trump said we are terrorists. We are not terrorists, we are victims of terrorism," the Iranian president said.
Pezeshkian also referred to the US-Israeli attacks on Iran, claiming that the country’s leader was killed “without any justification.” He accused Israel of attacks on residential areas in various cities and provinces of Iran, as well as targeted killings, describing these actions as “terrorist.”
"The people of Iran have defended their country over the past seven months," Pezeshkian declared in his speech.
The Iranian president's statements came a day after Trump used the UN podium to harshly criticize Tehran and describe Iran as the "number one state sponsor of terrorism."
