US President Donald Trump has declared that all mines located in the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz have been removed or destroyed.
Through a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had been informed by the US Navy that the mine clearance operation had ended.
"I have been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated in international waters of the Strait of Hormuz," the US president wrote.
Trump also warned Iran that any ship or vessel that attempts to lay new mines in the area will be immediately and systematically destroyed.
The US president claimed that the US is monitoring every part of the Strait of Hormuz through the US Space Force, while emphasizing that a "zero tolerance" policy has been established against the placement of mines.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most strategic maritime corridors for the transport of oil and gas. Any obstruction or threat to navigation in this area could have significant consequences for global energy supplies and prices.
