José Mourinho is no longer the coach of Fenerbahçe. The Turkish club confirmed today the departure of the Portuguese coach, after a collaboration that began at the beginning of the 2024–2025 season.
The club's official announcement states:
"We have parted ways with José Mourinho, the coach of our first football team. We thank him for his dedication to our team and wish him success in his future career."
Mourinho's departure comes after Fenerbahçe's painful elimination from the Champions League play-offs against Benfica, a defeat that proved fatal for his future on the bench of the club from Istanbul.
Mourinho, who took charge of Fenerbahçe with the aim of returning the club to the European elite, failed to meet expectations, despite the enthusiasm that accompanied his appointment.
The future of the renowned coach remains unclear, but European media are already talking about interest from several big clubs that could bring him back to the elite football scene.
