Rodri has officially joined Barcelona and, according to Spanish daily El Pais, the Spanish midfielder is now the second highest-paid player in the Catalan team, after Lamine Yamal.
The 30-year-old has successfully completed his medical, signed a contract and immediately joined the squad for training. He is expected to be available for Hansi Flick for a possible appearance in the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Al Ahly.
According to reports, Rodri will earn around 15 million euros net per season, or approximately 30 million euros gross, surpassing Barcelona's captains in the salary hierarchy.
The Catalan club's investment is considerable, especially given the physical problems the midfielder has had over the last two seasons. For this reason, one of the priorities of the technical and medical staff will be Rodri's full recovery and maintaining his physical condition throughout the season.
Barcelona hope that the Ballon d'Or winner and one of the most highly regarded midfielders in the world will become one of the leaders of Flick's squad and justify the club's huge investment.
