FIFA has come out publicly in support of president Gianni Infantino, following strong criticism of a proposal to sell a 20% stake in a new commercial structure linked to the organization's activities to private investors.
After a meeting in Rabat, FIFA stated that it would take measures to protect the integrity and reputation of the institution, while secretary general Mattias Grafstrom and board members reaffirmed their full support for Infantino.
However, the organization admitted that it had made mistakes in the way the "FIFA Forward Enterprise" proposal was managed, stressing that the FIFA Council and member federations should have been more involved in the process.
FIFA also confirmed that the proposal has now been withdrawn and will not proceed further.
