The Vetevendosje Movement has invited the opposition parties the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo to cooperate in proposing three candidates for President of Kosovo.
In an official announcement after the Presidency meeting, the ruling party says that this proposal comes with the aim of avoiding a repeated electoral process and guaranteeing institutional stability in the country.
According to Vetëvendosje, this possible agreement would withdraw the current candidacies of Glauk Konjufca and Fatmire Mulhaxha-Kollçaku, while at least 90 signatures from members of the Kosovo Assembly would be secured for the three joint candidates.
The ruling party is demanding that the opposition propose three consensual names for the post of president, emphasizing that the figures must be unifying, of high integrity, and outside the current political scene.
"We invite PDK and LDK to jointly propose three names from which the new President could be elected," the announcement states.
Vetëvendosje also emphasizes that it expects a response from opposition parties by Sunday evening, due to constitutional deadlines and the need to avoid institutional deadlock.
In the statement, the ruling party describes the current situation as politically sensitive and appeals for cooperation between political forces to find a common solution.
