President Vjosa Osmani submits her comments to the Constitutional Court on the issue of the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly from the Serbian community
President Vjosa Osmani has presented before the Constitutional Court her position regarding the challenge raised by the Serbian List regarding the position of Deputy Speaker of the Assembly from the Serbian community.
During a press conference, Osmani stressed that the effective functioning of the Assembly through MPs is key to maintaining constitutional order. She underlined that blocking the Assembly due to disagreements over a deputy speaker is unacceptable, especially when the Presidency has a quorum.
"The blocking of the Assembly due to a deputy speaker and despite the quorum in the Presidency, is a serious threat to institutional functioning," said Osmani.
The President added that Kosovo respects minority rights like no other in the region, but stressed that these rights cannot be used to hinder the work of institutions.
"It is trying to block the functioning of the state of Kosovo for the sake of a vice president. Our position is clear: as long as the Presidency has a quorum and the Assembly has elected vice presidents, the Assembly should not be blocked," she added.
Osmani emphasized that the goal of the Serbian List is precisely to block the work of the Assembly.
