Former Dutch ambassador to Kosovo, Robert Bosch, delivered a strong speech in support of the leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, during a rally held in The Hague. In his speech, Bosch questioned the seriousness of the ongoing trial of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and other former KLA leaders, describing it as unfair and politically influenced. “We have had requests and pressure from our governments to establish this court. It was strange that there was no Serb before it. I met Hashim Thaçi and I told him: 'You will be released for lack of evidence,'” Bosch said.
The Dutch diplomat added that the judicial process is dragging on and that the judges are taking advantage of this situation.
"The trial is frivolous. The judges feel comfortable here in The Hague, with a very good life, receiving high salaries, while the process drags on. It is unthinkable to come to the conclusion that the KLA was a criminal organization," Bosch stressed.
The speech of the former Dutch ambassador represents one of the international voices that have questioned the legitimacy of the special court and the process against former KLA leaders, adding even more debate about the role and justice of this institution in relation to the Kosovo conflict.
