Ilir Alimehmeti spoke to Euronews Albania about the possibility of running for Mayor of Tirana, hinting that this is not his main focus.
"We are still focused on the dismissal of Erion Veliaj. There is some delay from the Democratic Party. It was clear that this day would come. We have two sides of work: one to dismantle Veliaj with documents, taking him to court, protests in front of the municipality and resistance in the council. The other aspect is to move towards the competition with whom the SP would come," - said Alimehmeti.
He emphasized that he does not aim for "short-term and momentary projects," adding that he will support the candidate that the DP will decide.
"I am a group player. I am for a platform that can be implemented, that takes its time, and I believe in long-term political projects. In moments when I cannot go with a group and platform, I am the chairman of the councilors in the Municipality of Tirana and I will continue working there. I will support the DP candidate, whoever he is," said Alimehmeti.
