Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has declared that Tehran has no intention of making concessions, while stressing the need to end the precarious situation that he described as "neither war nor peace."
According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA, Pezeshkian said that Iranian officials are discussing almost daily ways to get out of this situation and reach an understanding that would preserve Iran's principles and values, while preventing adversaries from considering another attack on the country.
The Iranian president said that war does not offer a solution, while the ongoing uncertainty about the possibility of resuming fighting is also causing consequences for the country's economy.
According to him, attracting investment will be difficult as long as the threat of a new conflict exists. Pezeshkian emphasized that the situation must be overcome through dialogue and logic, while at the same time preserving Iran's power.
Pezeshkian also defended the recent memorandum of understanding with the US, stating that the document does not contain any provision that implies capitulation or that requires Tehran to make concessions.
In June, Iran and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding, brokered by Pakistan and Qatar, following the end of hostilities that began in February. The parties agreed to continue negotiations to reach a final agreement.
However, talks have since remained deadlocked due to disagreements over the implementation of the memorandum and issues related to navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main routes for the global transport and export of oil and gas.
