The protest in front of the Ministry of Education in Tirana has escalated into clashes between protesters and police forces. Several masked youths have thrown stones and hard objects at officers and the ministry building, while the police have responded with pressurized water.
Protesters tore up sidewalk tiles, broke them into pieces, and then threw them at police. To stop the clashes, police intervened with water cannons, first to put out burning trash cans and then to disperse the protesters.
Rapid Intervention Forces personnel, equipped with tear gas masks, have also been deployed to the area, while a second police car has also arrived. As of the time of reporting, the police had not used tear gas.
