The Democratic Party has launched a national protest this Saturday in support of students, who have been demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama for several weeks. Opposition MPs and supporters have set off from the PD headquarters towards the Prime Minister's Office, while the leader of the Democrats, Sali Berisha, is once again absent from the rally.
The opposition protest comes at a time when the student movement has entered its third week, with young people continuing to oppose the government and demand the removal of its leader.
Meanwhile, students have announced another gathering near the Ministry of Education, where they are expected to continue their protest.
The Democratic Party has stated that this Saturday's rally is organized in support of the students and their demands. Earlier, Berisha had called for participation in the protest, accusing the government and the State Police of using violence against the demonstrators.
The opposition rally is centered on the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, in front of the Prime Minister's Office, while it remains to be seen whether the protesters will continue the march towards other institutions.
