What is happening with the Bank of Albania is not simply an appointment procedure; it is an assassination attempt on the ultimate pillar of the state. The “Fortress of the Lek” is being occupied by mercenaries of private interests and servants of the power mafia. The question that today requires a “Yes” or “No” answer is: Will the Opposition accept to become complicit in this institutional murder or will it dare to strike this bargain with a boycott?
The process began as a crime scene: applications were submitted only by hand, away from the public eye, in the dark offices of the Assembly. This mafia filter served to eliminate any professional who did not have the seal of the “Klan” on their forehead. Edi Rama’s autocracy has torn up every old rule of balance, appointing only the devoted “soldiers” who will shed light on money laundering and monopolies.
This is no longer a Supervisory Board, but a table where family interests intersect with those of the financial mafia:
* Holta Zaçaj (reward for services to the Constitutional Court): Her candidacy is revealing evidence that the Constitutional Court, under her leadership, was nothing more than a subsidiary of the Socialist Party. After fulfilling her “mission” at the head of the Constitutional Court by faithfully serving the interests of the majority, Zaçaj is being rewarded with a “golden parachute” to the Bench.
* Matilda Shehu: Her candidacy personifies total capture. While she seeks to sit on the board of the Bank of Albania, her husband holds the position of Secretary General at the Ministry of Justice and her brother is Chairman of the Board at the Financial Supervisory Authority (AMF). This family controls justice, insurance and now seeks banking licenses. When a single family controls justice and financial supervision, the public interest is dead.
* Ervin Mete: This character is the “Trojan horse” of the oil oligarchy. The former chairman of G99 has been sponsored step by step by business interests: first he was sent to the AFSA, then to the Ministry of Finance and is now being installed at the Bank of Albania. He is not there for the Lek, but to guarantee that the oil empire has “immunity” in every transaction.
* Selami Xhepa: This is the most camouflaged “bait”. Strongly lobbied by Henri Çili of UET, Xhepa is a fig leaf used to cover other names with “opposition” colors. The opposition is being invited to a bargain where a chair is offered for Xhepa, in exchange for handing over the entire Bank to the narco-oligarchy.
The participation of the Opposition in this farce vote is not “institutional responsibility”, but open participation in crime. The moment you sit in that hall to vote for this list, you officially die as an alternative. You cannot denounce drug money laundering or the capture of justice tomorrow, when today you raise your hand for the people of the oligarchy.
This board is not a product of meritocracy, but of a corrupt system. Every vote in favor of this package of names is a vote in favor of the "stability" of the narco-euros and in favor of installing the financial mafia on the board that should have been the shield of the Lek.
The opposition has only one path: total and unconditional boycott. Denounce this charade, expose the family octopus that is devouring the institutions and do not become a party to the murder of monetary independence. The time to defend the “Fortress of the Lek” is now. Otherwise, publicly admit that you are simply an ugly facade holding a candle while the narco-oligarchy steals the future of Albanians.
