The accident in the former swamp area in Durres, with two children killed and another seriously injured, "cuts off" the head of the Durres Police Director, Afrim Tafa. The decision to dismiss Tafa from his duties was made by Police Chief Skënder Hita, who had previously suspended him along with two other officials.

Afrim Tafa was appointed director of Durrës just hours before Ilir Proda was dismissed from his post by a decision of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
