The accident in the former swamp area in Durres, with two children killed and another seriously injured, "cuts off" the head of the Durres Police Director, Afrim Tafa. The decision to dismiss Tafa from his duties was made by Police Chief Skënder Hita, who had previously suspended him along with two other officials.
Although the motivation has not been disclosed, sources say that Tafa was dismissed for failure to fulfill his duty, because there were several complaints against the cause of the tragic accident, Nikollë Radaci, but the police have not taken any action.
Afrim Tafa was appointed director of Durrës just hours before Ilir Proda was dismissed from his post by a decision of Prime Minister Edi Rama. He was seen as part of the Proda clan, a clan that is gradually disintegrating with the departures and dismissals that Skënder Hita has signed over the last two weeks.
