SPAK intensifies investigations against former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku and orders at least 15 searches, as there are reasonable suspicions that could provide evidence that serves the investigation of the case. The news is confirmed by trusted sources close to the prosecution institution, who emphasize that the searches were approved by decision of the Special Court. Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation have landed in homes and offices since morning and have taken mobile phones, documents, but also other equipment from there.
Sources confirm that these new controls are related to the investigations that special prosecutors are conducting into several suspected banking transactions, which they suspect are directly related to the former number two in the government.
These checks follow those carried out at the end of December 2025 and January 2026, where phones of well-known businessmen such as Ilir Shtufi and Rrok Gjoka, etc., were seized and are being examined by experts.
In parallel with these investigative actions, SPAK has also issued letters requesting information abroad about Belinda Balluku and persons associated with her.
Balluku is a defendant in the tender for the construction of the Llogara tunnel and is under investigation for the lots of the Grand Ring Road.
SPAK requested Balluk's arrest, but the socialist majority voted against. Two security measures remain in force against the former deputy prime minister: a ban on leaving the country and a suspension from exercising his functions.
