The head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, has stated that the investigation against former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, remains one of the priority issues of the institution he leads.
During an informal meeting with journalists, Braho announced that investigations into this file are continuing with intensity, while the controls conducted this Thursday are part of the investigative actions undertaken by SPAK.
"It is an issue under investigation. It is among the highest priority issues. There are 9 officers of the National Bureau of Investigation and 2 prosecutors who are dealing with this issue. Today's checks are a continuation of the investigations. When the investigations are completed, we will come up with a more complete investigation," Braho declared.
Asked whether the Special Prosecution Office will address the Assembly again with a new request on the issue of Balluk's immunity, the head of SPAK did not give a concrete answer, but emphasized that such a decision will depend on the development of the investigations and the evidence administered.
According to him, the investigations continued even after the previous decision of the Assembly and have advanced further.
"The investigations, even after that decision, have continued with intensity. They have moved on. I cannot say whether or not a new request will be made. The decision will be conditioned by the circumstances of the investigation and the results we will have. Parliament has made a decision on a request that we have made and we cannot go again with the same evidence," said Braho.
The investigation against Balluk continues to be one of SPAK's most closely watched public files, while the Special Prosecution Office has recently conducted four more inspections.
