Facial yoga is increasingly being used as a natural method to prevent and reduce the signs of aging on the face and neck.
This holistic practice combines special exercises, massage, acupressure and relaxation techniques, with the aim of strengthening muscles, improving blood circulation and reducing tension in the face. According to expert Areti Kafantari, the earlier the exercises are started, the greater the chances of preventing the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
Through exercise, people become more aware of facial expressions and learn to control movements that can accentuate wrinkles. The face and neck contain about 57 muscles. Strengthening them helps the skin look more toned, elastic, and healthy. Since these muscles are smaller and thinner than the muscles of the body, they can be exercised more easily.
Massage also plays an important role, as it helps blood circulation, activates the lymphatic system, and can reduce facial swelling. Meanwhile, acupressure is performed by applying pressure to specific points on the face and neck, helping to reduce tension and improve the appearance of the skin.
According to Kafantari, people who have fine lines or the first signs of aging may see improvements after 6 to 8 weeks of regular practice.
In addition to the aesthetic effect, facial yoga also aims for relaxation and well-being, as the time spent taking care of yourself is reflected in your appearance.
