The former leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, MP Ramush Haradinaj, has proposed the name of former President Hashim Thaçi for the post of President of Kosovo, stating that it would be an honor for the nation for him to continue his presidential mandate, which, according to Haradinaj, was taken away by a legal intervention.
Haradinaj said that, if it were up to Kurti and what he described as "Kurti's regime," then extending Thaçi's mandate would be an option that this legislature or even future legislatures should consider.
"So, if Kurti, that is, Kurti's regime, wants a solution, it is in the honor of this legislature, but also of every legislature, to continue the mandate of President Thaçi. His mandate was taken away by a legal intervention and with his return it is our honor as Albanians, as a nation, not because of any party or political proximity, but because of a response from the enemies of Kosovo who never sleep, to continue his mandate," said Haradinaj.
He emphasized that besides Thaçi, there are other alternatives for the post of president, adding that the goal should be for Kosovo not to remain hostage because of this issue.
"According to him, besides Thaçi, there are other options, don't hold Kosovo hostage," said Haradinaj.
The AAK MP continued his attacks on the acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, accusing him of placing himself above the Constitution and institutions of Kosovo.
"So, I'm telling you once again that the enemies do not sleep and the Kurti regime wants to put Kosovo to sleep in the interests of the enemies," he further stated.
Haradinaj stated that Kurti, according to him, “has installed himself above the Constitution, above the institutions, above every constitutional and legal obligation.” He also criticized the failure to convene the session, describing the justification that there could be violence in the Assembly as an alibi.
"Not calling the session with the excuse that if there is no agreement, violence will occur during the session is just an alibi. Violence has occurred, and violence that expresses the frustration and anger of citizens, so the egg-throwing at Kurti, not because he called the session, but because he is not running for the Speaker of the Assembly, which is his duty and obligation and that of his winning party, and not because he called the session...", declared Haradinaj.
The former leader of the Alliance also said that the issue of the agreement on the election of the president is also an alibi and that, according to him, this situation is being created intentionally.
