During his speech at the peace summit in Egypt, Trump said that a new police force should be created in Gaza.
"We also agreed that the reconstruction of Gaza requires that the area be demilitarized, so that a civilian police force is allowed to create safe conditions for the people of Gaza," he said.
Trump called for cooperation, which, as he said, "has finally brought us to this incredible and historic progress."
"This is the first time that the Middle East crisis has brought people together, instead of dividing them, and to declare that our future will not be ruled by the quarrels of past generations, which is foolish. So together, let us continue in the spirit of cooperation and goodwill that has finally brought us to this incredible and historic progress," Trump said.
US President Donald Trump and several other world leaders signed a ceasefire agreement in Gaza during a summit in Egypt.
Earlier in the day, Trump hailed the "dawn of a new Middle East" in his remarks to the Israeli parliament.
