US President Donald Trump has set a deadline of Sunday evening for the Palestinian group Hamas to accept a proposal for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in the Gaza Strip. In a statement published on his “Social Truth” platform, Trump called the offer a “last chance” for Hamas, warning of serious consequences if it is rejected.
According to him, the deadline for accepting the deal expires at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time (22:00 GMT) on Sunday. “If it doesn’t happen by then, all hell will break loose against Hamas like never before,” Trump wrote.
He added that in retaliation for the attack on civilization on October 7, 2023, over 25,000 Hamas “soldiers” have been killed so far, while the rest are surrounded and militarily blockaded. “They are just waiting for the order to ‘go’ so that their lives will be quickly extinguished,” he warned.
Trump called on innocent Palestinians to immediately leave areas that could be affected by military operations, describing them as “potential sites of mass death.” He promised that there would be assistance for all civilians seeking to escape to safer parts of Gaza.
Meanwhile, no clarification was given as to which areas are specifically at risk, but developments on the ground indicate that Israel has intensified its military campaign in Gaza City in recent weeks.
According to the United Nations, more than 417,000 people have been displaced from northern Gaza since mid-August. The UN has warned of deteriorating living conditions in southern Gaza, where civilians have been ordered to evacuate.
