US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is in contact with Elon Musk, noting that the two have spoken "occasionally" since their meeting at Charlie Kirk's funeral last month in Arizona, and that their relationship "is already good."
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One during the trip to Japan, Trump said he has "always liked" Elon Musk, despite past clashes.
"I've always liked Elon. He went through a difficult period, a bad moment. But I like Elon, and I think I always will," he said, responding to a question from Politico.
The statements mark a new phase of reconciliation between Trump and Musk, after a summer filled with public clashes. The pair had traded personal accusations and political threats after the billionaire and owner of Platform X left open the possibility of supporting anti-Republican candidates, even creating a new party called the "America Party."
At the time, Trump had warned Musk of "very serious consequences" if he went ahead with his plans, hinting that he could take action against him through a government efficiency agency that Musk had helped set up in its early days.
