US President Donald Trump stated that his administration is in contact with the "right people" in Iran and that the Iranian side "very much wants to make a deal," while giving an update on the latest developments in the war.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said that Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were also involved in the negotiations, suggesting active diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
The president added that joint US-Israeli attacks on Iran have led to “regime change,” although he warned that he does not fully trust the other side. He also mentioned a “very significant price” that, he said, is related to oil, gas and the Strait of Hormuz, without giving further details.
Asked about the possibility of reaching a peace agreement, Trump said that "this war has been won," avoiding concrete clarifications on how the conflict might end in practice.
There was no comment from the president about a possible deployment of US troops to the region, according to media reports. However, the Pentagon is expected to send troops from the 82nd Airborne Division, including ground forces and command elements, according to US media reports.
