UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said he will not bow to pressure to involve the country in a conflict with Iran, stressing that such engagement is not in the national interest.
His comments come just hours after Donald Trump, in an interview, suggested that the terms of the trade deal between Britain and the US, reached last year, could be renegotiated.
Responding to questions from MPs, Starmer acknowledged that he faces considerable pressure to follow a different political course, adding that recent developments have further intensified this pressure.
"I will not change my mind. I will not bow down. It is not in our national interest to get involved in this war and we will not do it. I know where I stand," he said.
The British Prime Minister reiterated that the government remains determined not to intervene, underlining that this conflict is not Britain's war.
