The Mexican Navy confirmed that one of its aircraft crashed near Galveston, Texas, during a medical mission that ended tragically. Five people were killed, two others escaped without injury, and one person is still missing.
According to the official announcement, the King Air ANX-1209 aircraft had eight people on board, including a minor. The aircraft was carrying four Mexican Navy officers and four civilians, engaged in support of the Michou y Mau Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps children with severe burns.
A minor who was being transported for medical treatment has been confirmed among the victims. Search and rescue operations were conducted by the United States Coast Guard, which located the aircraft in the ocean.
The Mexican Foreign Ministry, through a statement on the X platform, expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and announced that, through the Consulate General of Mexico in Houston, it has established contacts with local authorities to provide consular support.
According to local reports, the plane was preparing to land at the time of the crash, while dense fog was reported in the area, which may have influenced the incident.
