Hormuz Island, in southern Iran, has been a sight to behold in recent days after heavy rains hit the area. The coastline has been transformed into an unusual panorama, creating the impression of a sea dyed red, a phenomenon that has attracted the attention of tourists and photographers.
This rare natural effect is caused by high concentrations of iron oxide in the soil and sand of the area known as “Red Beach.” During rainfall, rainwater absorbs the red pigment of the soil and, as it flows towards the sea, creates the characteristic appearance of a “red sea.”
Spectacular images have made the rounds on social media, turning the island of Hormuz into an increasingly sought-after destination for visitors looking to capture its unique natural beauty.
