US President Donald Trump has stated that he is "not satisfied" with Iran's latest proposal for resolving the conflict, adding that some of the Iranian side's demands are unacceptable, without providing further details.
"They're asking for things that I can't agree with," Trump told reporters at the White House.
Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official has revealed some of the elements included in the draft agreement being discussed between the parties. According to him, the plan envisages ending the war with guarantees that Israel and the United States will not carry out any more attacks on Iran, the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the lifting of American blockades.
The agreement also includes the launch of new talks on the Iranian nuclear program, in exchange for the lifting of sanctions by the US, as well as recognition of Iran's right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, on the condition that the activity can be suspended.
According to Reuters reports, an Iranian official has stated that negotiations on the nuclear issue "have entered the final phase," with the aim of creating a more favorable climate for an agreement.
On the other hand, Washington has reiterated its position that any final agreement must guarantee that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons.
