The number of American soldiers wounded in the war with Iran has reached about 200, the US military said, as the conflict enters its third week.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the vast majority of injuries were minor, with 180 soldiers now back on duty. 10 of the injuries were serious.
The source said the injuries occurred in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq and Israel.
Thirteen American soldiers have been killed since the conflict began on February 28, when Iran launched attacks on American military bases. Iranian attacks have also targeted diplomatic missions, hotels and airports, and damaged energy infrastructure in Gulf states.
Last week, Reuters reported that up to 150 US soldiers were injured, underscoring the intensity and danger of the Iranian attacks. At the same time, the United States has carried out strikes on more than 7,000 targets in Iran.
A U.S. official said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity, that about 12 MQ-9 drones have been destroyed during the war. The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper drone can operate at an altitude of about 50,000 feet for more than 27 hours, gathering information through advanced cameras, sensors and radars.
The Reaper, which entered service with the U.S. Air Force 16 years ago, can carry armament such as air-to-surface missiles.
