
Kosovo Police said they found weapons and ammunition in the basement of a building in North Mitrovica.
"At the moment, there are no arrests, while investigations into the case are ongoing," Kosovo Police said in a statement on September 27.
According to the announcement, during this police operation, two rifles, 50 cartridges, handcuffs, masks, gun holsters and empty magazines were found in the basement of the building near Car Lazar Square.
Otherwise, Kosovo authorities have found weapons of various types from time to time in different parts of Kosovo, mainly in the northern part inhabited by a Serb majority.
On September 18, police announced that they had found weapons in Zveçan. Later, the acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveça, stated that the weapons were found on the property of one of the accused in the 2023 attack in Banjska, Zveçan.
A Kosovo police officer was killed after a group of armed Serbs attacked the police on September 24, 2023.
Kosovo blames Serbia for the attack. Justice authorities have charged 45 people, but only three of them are on trial, while the other defendants are on the run./ REL
