Greece has confirmed that it will not join the "Peace Board" proposed by Donald Trump, expressing serious reservations about its mandate, structure and compliance with international law.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that Athens cannot support an initiative that creates parallel structures outside the framework of the United Nations and without a clear mandate for the conflict in Gaza.
According to him, the Board's founding document:
• does not directly refer to the mandate for Gaza,
• contradicts existing UN resolutions,
• and risks weakening the international multilateral architecture.
Greece's position comes in line with reservations expressed by other European countries, which demand that any peace mechanism remain anchored in existing international structures, not in new political initiatives with unclear competencies.
