British journalist Steve Sweeney has said the airstrike that injured him and his cameraman was deliberate, just hours after they were reporting from the bombing zone.
Sweeney said he was reporting on the destruction of bridges and the forced displacement of about a million people in Lebanon, a situation he likened to ethnic cleansing on an even greater scale than the Nakba.
After the airstrike, the journalist and his cameraman were taken to the hospital. He said a metal piece of the shell that had penetrated deep into his muscle was removed from his body.
According to him, there was no warning before the bombing and no notification to the Lebanese army that had allowed the team to film in the area.
"I am convinced that the attack was deliberate. Attacks on journalists are war crimes," he said, adding that despite the injury, it will not stop him from reporting on the ground.
